ACAHM Announces Election of New Commissioner

The Accreditation Commission for Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine (ACAHM) is pleased to announce the election of a new Commissioner: Charles Ford, MS, L.Ac. ACAHM is the nationally recognized accrediting agency of programs in Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine (AHM) and institutions exclusively providing AHM-related programs.

Charles Ford brings over 25 years of experience bridging higher education and AHM in both academic and integrative hospital-based settings. He is an Associate Professor of Clinical Sciences at the University of Bridgeport, where he has taught in the University’s Acupuncture Institute (UBAI) since 2006. Professor Ford recently retired from his administrative roles as Assistant Director of UBAI and Director of UBAI’s Master of Science in Acupuncture with Chinese Herbology program, as well as clinical service and supervision at Montefiore Hospital. His distinguished career is further highlighted by scholarly contributions, which include EARDA-awarded research on patient characteristics in integrated clinics, published reviews, and collaborative poster presentations. He has served ACAHM extensively as a site visitor and site visit chair. He earned an M.S. in Traditional Chinese Medicine from the Pacific Institute of Oriental Medicine and a B.A. in English Literature from Colgate University. He continues to use his diverse clinical background, which includes multidisciplinary cardiology care, in private practice in Beacon, NY.

ACAHM welcomes Professor Ford to the Commission and looks forward to his contributions in supporting excellence across acupuncture and herbal medicine educational programs.
