ACAHM Announces Election of New Commissioner

The Accreditation Commission for Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine (ACAHM) is pleased to announce the election of a new Commissioner: Deneb Falabella, D.O.M., L.Ac. ACAHM is the nationally recognized accrediting agency of programs in Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine (AHM) and institutions exclusively providing AHM-related programs.

Deneb Falabella, D.O.M., L.Ac., is Dean of the School of Integrative Health at Notre Dame of Maryland University (NDMU). She brings more than 25 years of experience in acupuncture and integrative health education, accreditation, and higher education leadership.

Prior to joining NDMU, Dr. Falabella was Associate Provost for Assessment and Accreditation at Maryland University of Integrative Health (MUIH), where she led institutional and programmatic accreditation and educational effectiveness initiatives across the university. Earlier in her career, she held leadership roles in acupuncture program administration and clinical education and maintained an acupuncture practice for more than two decades.

Dr. Falabella was MUIH’s liaison to ACAHM for over 10 years and served as the institution’s primary contact for multiple accrediting and regulatory organizations. She has been an ACAHM site visitor since 2024 and is also a peer evaluator for the Middle States Commission on Higher Education. From 2010 to 2015, Dr. Falabella served on the Maryland Board of Acupuncture, where she also held the role of Board Chair and participated in legislative and disciplinary committee work.

Dr. Falabella earned a Doctor of Oriental Medicine from MUIH, a Master of Acupuncture and Certificate in Chinese Herbal Medicine from the Traditional Acupuncture Institute, and a Bachelor of Arts in Art from Muhlenberg College. She is a Maryland-licensed acupuncturist and NCBAHM Diplomate of Acupuncture.

ACAHM welcomes Dr. Falabella to the Commission and looks forward to her contributions in supporting excellence across acupuncture and herbal medicine educational programs.
