Call for Public Comment – Proposed Revisions to ACAHM’s Comprehensive Standards and Criteria
In accordance with its Standards Review Policy and US Department of Education regulations, the Accreditation Commission for Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine (ACAHM or Commission) is undertaking a comprehensive review of its Comprehensive Standards and Criteria to ensure that its requirements for accreditation are adequate to evaluate the education and training provided by the institutions and programs it accredits and relevant to the education or training needs of students.
The draft revisions include numerous substantive changes, as well as minor, nonsubstantive revisions to clarify but not change existing guidance. All additions and deletions are indicated with red font.
Before making any substantive changes to its Comprehensive Standards and Criteria, it is the Commission’s practice to provide notice to all relevant stakeholders and constituencies of proposed changes; give the interested parties adequate opportunity to comment on the proposed changes; and use the input received to help inform final decisions.
This call for public comment is open through Monday, January 19, 2026.
PUBLIC COMMENT PROCESS:

Interested parties are invited to comment on the proposed revisions to the Standards outlined above, using any of the following methods:
1. Via this online survey instrument: Public Comment Submission Form ; or
2. Via electronic mail, in the form of an attached PDF document with the signature of the commenter, sent to info@acahm.org [Email subject line must include “Comprehensive Standards Public Comment”] Comments must be received no later than 4:30pm US Central Time on Monday, January 19, 2026.
Comments are encouraged to include specific edits to the draft revisions cited by criterion and relevant subcomponent. General criticism without proposed revision is less helpful.
All comments will be reviewed by the Commission in accordance with ACAHM policy and further actions by the Commission will be announced on the ACAHM website.
