ACAHM Announces Election of Two New Commissioners
The Accreditation Commission for Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine (ACAHM) is pleased to announce the election of two new Commissioners: Dr. Patricia M. Casello-Maddox, DC, MBA, MOM, L.Ac., and Dr. Dennis R. Moseman, D.C., L.Ac., Dipl. Ac. (NCCAOM). Each brings distinct expertise to ACAHM, the nationally recognized accrediting agency of programs in Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine (AHM) and institutions exclusively providing AHM-related programs.
Dr. Patricia M. Casello-Maddox
Dr. Casello-Maddox brings over 28 years of experience spanning clinical practice, higher education teaching, curriculum development, and institutional accreditation leadership. She has served ACAHM as a site visitor and team chair since 2011, conducting evaluations for master's and doctoral programs, certificates, and various accreditation visits including candidacy, initial and renewal accreditation, change of location, and distance education approvals.
Her institutional leadership experience includes serving as Associate Provost and Accreditation Liaison Officer at Northwestern Health Sciences University, where she led the institution's HLC 10-Year Comprehensive Site Visit and Assurance Report and completed a multi-year HLC Assessment Academy project. At Northwestern, she also served as Associate Professor and Biomedical Chair, teaching anatomy, physiology, clinical medicine, and needling anatomy courses.
Dr. Casello-Maddox holds a Master of Oriental Medicine from Northwestern Health Sciences University, including clinical training at the First Affiliated Hospital of Tianjin University of Traditional Chinese Medicine in China. She previously earned a Doctor of Chiropractic from Northwestern, and also holds an MBA in Organizational Development and Marketing from the University of St. Thomas, and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Minnesota. She serves as a peer reviewer for the Higher Learning Commission and previously served on the Minnesota Board of Medical Practice Acupuncture Advisory Council from 2016 to 2024.
Dr. Dennis R. Moseman
Dr. Moseman currently serves as Dean and Professor at the New England School of Acupuncture at Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, a position he has held since February 2020. His career in acupuncture education spans more than three decades, with progressive leadership roles at multiple institutions including Tri-State College of Acupuncture, where he served as Dean of Studies, Vice President, and President over an eleven-year period. He has also held positions as Academic Dean and Chair of Health Sciences at New York College of Health Professions and Chair of Biomedical Clinical Sciences at Pacific College of Oriental Medicine.
Dr. Moseman has extensive national-level service in the acupuncture profession, including serving on the Board of Commissioners for the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine from 2013 to 2014. He chaired NCCAOM's Biomedicine Exam Development Committee and served on multiple committees focused on examination development, research, finance, strategic planning, and professional ethics. He has contributed to ACAHM as a site visitor since 2021 and participated in the organization's Reconceptualized Master's Standards Task Force and Professional Doctorate Task Force.
Dr. Moseman holds a Master of Science in Acupuncture from New York College of Health Professions, a Doctor of Chiropractic from Life University, and a Bachelor of Science in Nutrition. He is licensed as an acupuncturist in both New York and Massachusetts and is a NCCAOM Diplomate in Acupuncture. He currently serves on the Massachusetts Committee on Acupuncture and the Board of the Acupuncture Society of Massachusetts.
